Tocantins River
It is born in the state of Goiás, passes through Tocantins, Maranhão and Pará, until it reaches the mouth of the Amazon, where it flows. It is the second largest totally Brazilian river, just behind the São Francisco.
The Tocantins River is also known as Tocantins-Araguaia, after joining Araguaia in the "Beak of the Parrot" region. It is in the middle and lower river valley that there is the largest concentration of Brazil nuts.
In the annual transport, about 15 thousand tons of chestnut flow from the region of Pará to the city of Belém.
