Lisbon, Portugal, March 8, 1500. Pedro Álvares Cabral departs with his fleet of 13 ships and approximately 1,500 men on expedition to the Indies.
On April 22, 1500, the Cabral fleet reached the Brazilian coast. The landing took place on the southern coast of Bahia, in the region of the current city of Porto Seguro. When they reach the mainland they meet the natives of the territory, called Indians.
